Paya Indah Wetlands is a protected area and ecotourism area under the Management of the Department of Wildlife and National Parks of Peninsular Malaysia (PERHILITAN). PIW is located at lot No. 4827 and 3974, Mukim Tanjung Dua Belas, Kuala Langat District, Selangor. On 17 February 1998, an area of 450.76 hectares (1113.87 acres) was gazetted as a Wetlands Reserve under Sub-Section 62(1), National Land Code (Act 56). PIW is former tin mine land and peat swamp forest. There are 14 artificial lakes that were originally tin mines with a depth of more than 10 meters. Among the lakes that are the main attractions are Tasik Utama, Tasik Sendayan and Tasik Typha.
Paya Indah Wetlands (PIW) is located at Dengkil next to ELITE Highway and Gamuda Cove. It takes about 30 minutes’ drive from Putrajaya/Cyberjaya. The nearest town which is Dengkil is 8 km away from PIW. The journey from Kuala Lumpur via the Dengkil exit takes about 1 hour (depending on your location) and from KLIA approximately 30 minutes.
