OFFICIAL VISIT OF THE DEPUTY MINISTER OF ENERGY AND NATURAL RESOURCES TO THE NATIONAL ELEPHANT CONSERVATION CENTRE (NECC), THE NATIONAL TIGER CONSERVATION CENTER (NTCC) AND THE BIODIVERSITY INSTITUTE
The Deputy Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, YB Ali Biju, undertook an official visit to the National Elephant Conservation Center (NECC), Kuala Gandah Pahang, The National Tiger Conservation Center (NTCC) and Biodiversity Institute on June 26, 2020.
He was briefed on the history and functions of the NECC in raising knowledge, awareness and community support on the importance of elephant conservation as well as being a centre for research, education and ecotourism in Peninsular Malaysia.
In addition, YB Ali Biju also took the opportunity to visit the National Tiger Conservation Center (NTCC). The NTCC is a Malayan Tiger conservation project that will implement the Malayan Tiger breeding program, rewilding and release program. The project is one of the Government's efforts to increase and stabilize the endangered Malayan Tiger population in Peninsular Malaysia. Finally, he visited the wildlife specimensin Biodiversity Institute. He was briefed on the key functions and roles of the Biodiversity Institute, including planning and organizing short and long term courses for Department personnel, conducting public awareness programs for various community groups and collecting and maintaining zoological specimens for reference.
