Expert Lecture Series Program 4/2017: Save the Hornbills
Department of Wildlife and National Parks (PERHILITAN) Peninsular Malaysia organized the fourth and the final Expert Lecture Series for this year on 17th October 2017 at the Auditorium, headquarters of PERHILITAN with the theme Save the Hornbills. This event was co-organized by PERHILITAN and Malaysia Nature Society (MNS).
The invited speakers were Hornbill Expert, Dr. Pilai Poonswad sharing about Hornbill conservation and research in Thailand: Findings and lesson learnt. The second presentation was covered by Mr. Yeap Chin Aik from MNS about Hornbill Conservation and research in Malaysia: Past, Present and Future. The last speaker from University Malaya, Ms. Ravinder Kaur A/P Kirpal Singh shared about Research on the breeding biology of Hornbills in Kinabatangan, Sabah, Malaysia. A question and answer session was held at the end of the presentations and moderated by Dierctor of Consultancy Division, Ms. Nosrat Ravichandran received a very good feedback from participants.
A total of 100 participants comprising the department staff, private organizations, institutions of higher education and members of the public attended this program and it was officiated by Mr. Hasnan bin Yusop, Deputy Director General II of PERHILITAN. The Expert Lecture Series program is a platform for the Department to deliver and share information with the department staff, the public and relevant stakeholders. The Expert Lecture Series Program is expected to be continued next year after receiving a very encouraging response from stakeholders in the field of wildlife conservation through four series conducted this year.
