GUIDELINES FOR WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT PLAN (WMP) WORKSHOP
A Guidelines for Wildlife Management Plan (WMP) Workshop was held on 29-30 December 2016 in Paya Indah Wetlands, Dengkil, Selangor. The workshop was held in collaboration with Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). The workshop focused on preparing a format for the Wildlife Management Plan for development projects involving Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and Environmental Management Plan (EMP).
The workshop was attended by 31 participants comprising representatives from government departments and various government and private agencies, including the Department of Environment (DOE), the Department of Water Supply (JBA), the Ministry of Energy, Green Technology and Water (KeTTHA), Ministry of Works (KKR), Public Works Department (PWD), Forestry Department of Peninsular Malaysia, Department of Town and Country Planning (DTCP), Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) Research and PERHILITAN.
The objective of the workshop was to provide WMP guidelines to be used by Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) consultants as well as create awareness among staff and consultants to provide the best method of WMP to meet the needs of wildlife conservation.
