BIODIVERSITY SEMINAR 2016
The Department of Wildlife and National Parks (PERHILITAN) Peninsular Malaysia organised the Biodiversity Seminar 2016 on 21-25 November 2016 at Awana Hotel, Genting Highlands Resort, Pahang. This time, the seminar was co-funded by United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
This 7th Biodiversity Seminar was officiated by YBrs. En. Fakhrul Hatta bin Musa, Deputy Director-General I. In conjuction with the officiation ceremony, PERHILITAN launched a book entitled 'Gerik Ecological Corridor - A Safe Passage For Wildlife' which contains information about the efforts and commitment of the Department in ensuring safe habitats for wildlife particularly in the case of the construction of a highway across the forest in Gerik, Perak.
The seminar was also graced by the presence of former PERHILITAN Director-General, Mr. Mohd Khan Momin Khan who was invited as the keynote speaker.
The purpose of the seminar was to collect and document biodiversity inventory studies organized by the Department in 2015 and 2016. The Biodiversity Seminar 2016 was attended by 120 researchers from various government agencies, non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and higher education institutions who joined the Department’s inventory programme.
