Press Conference on ‘OPS CHAMELEON’ by the Department of Wildlife and National Parks (PERHILITAN) Peninsular Malaysia

On 2 September 2016, a press conference on the success of the Department of Wildlife and National Parks (PERHILITAN) Peninsular Malaysia foiled attempts to smuggling wildlife in a special operation, 'OPS CHAMELEON', was held. The press conference was chaired by Director-General of PERHILITAN, Mr Abdul Kadir Abu Hashim.
The success of this operation were the results of monitoring of intelligence that has been underway since early 2016, thanks to international cooperation in the sharing of intelligence and information. It involved five (5) separate raids conducted in different locations. Among the items seized were ivories, pangolin scales, skin suspected to be tiger’s skin, wildlife claws and several accessories made of wildlife parts.
