This wildlife reserve is the first protected area gazetted in 1903 with gazette number (GN) 493 and regazetted in 1910. The same area that was gazette as Forest Reserve with Gazet Number 564 in 1914. The actual reserve area is 4330 hectares but it has reduced due to agricultural purposes and others. The remaining area is 689 hectares. Parts of the reserve is managed other agencies.
