The reserve with an area of 1,335 hectares was established in 1954 with Gazzete Number (GN) 492 intended to protect Pigeons. It is located between Pekan-Kuantan Road and the habitat cover coastal areas and clusters of mangrove swamp forest that are located along Pahang Tua River.
