PUBLIC AWARENESS
 

This programme focuses on planning, conducting and standardising all awareness programmes to increase the awareness and attitude changes to love and protect biodiversity resources among various public groups. Target groups for this programme are students, youth, teachers and local communities.

 
 
i.
Biodiversity Conservation Education Program (BCEP)
The BCEP programme has been conducted since 1978 by DWNP to increase public awareness on the importance of invaluable natural resources with the collaboration of Ministry of Education. It is held for 3 days 2 nights period and involves few modules carried out mainly in the field. Following the good response received from the public, this programme has expanded to the various public groups and conducted through a number of BCEP centres. DWNP is responsible to provide the modules, facilitator training, equipment and the programme materials.
 
ii.
Jungle River Ecology (JRE)
The objective of the JRE activities is to produce well trained teachers to conduct nature education by using the river and biodiversity resources for teaching and learning materials. Besides that, it was also aimed to train the participants to be more creative and proactive in conducting the conservation education programme in Ministry of Education’s State and district level. This programme conducted in 6 days 5 nights with participants of 30 – 40 people.
